I’m around halfway through The Discourses. My daughter, her first time flying, did amazing on her flights to and from Florida, so I was able to get in some great reading time.
I did a check-in on the chat and didn’t hear anything. The chat does not send a mass message like an article, and the message probably went into the empty airwaves.
With that, I’m curious where readers of The Discourses are at, what are you noticing, questions, analyses, insights, and observations.
Possibly this week, here or on video, likely on here after I finish editing an article, I’ll drop a kind of bullet point list of observations. A key feature of Machiavelli I’ve noticed is how repetitive he is with his themes. He has a consistency of putting his theory into every chapter. Discourses certainly expands his political theory laid out in The Prince, yet consistent themes are hammered over and over.
