The Great Degeneration by Niall Ferguson FTP: Private School Decline

The closing chapter of Niall Ferguson’s The Great Degeneration fueled my concern with modern education. I’m planning to start a family soon. And the nearer I get to that emotionally, intellectually, and spiritually, the greater my concern with education. My concern began when I noticed a messaging shift in my high school’s alumni magazine. I saw progressive, left-lurching ideologies espoused all over the pages. And this was before 2020. The ideological lurch fomented around 2017 or 2018. And for the last seven or so years I’ve noticed the same ideological lurch with other high schools.

The high school I attended resides among the top elite private schools in America, arguably the world. It’s the oldest boarding preparatory school in the United States. The Governor’s Academy was founded in 1763. Paul Revere struck the school seal. It first served as a Harvard feeder school.
